Wildlife Forensic Academy (Pty) Ltd ('WFA') Code of Conduct

Purpose

The Wildlife Forensic Academy (WFA) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and professional learning environment. All course participants and interns are expected to uphold the standards outlined below as a condition of their participation in WFA programmes and activities. Based on the full WFA Code of Conduct.

As a WFA course participant or intern, you must:

Core values

WFA participants and interns are expected to uphold the values of respect, integrity, professionalism, accountability, inclusion, ethical conduct, and a commitment to health, safety, wellbeing, and the dignity and rights of others. Respect cultural, religious, and individual differences, and contribute to an inclusive learning environment. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, intimidation, threats, abusive behaviour, violence, or any form of exploitation will not be tolerated.

Academic and Professional Integrity

Attend and actively participate in all required course and internship activities, conducting yourself honestly, ethically, and professionally at all times. All work submitted must be your own, free from plagiarism, cheating, falsification, or academic fraud, and you must respect and appropriately acknowledge the intellectual property and contributions of others.

Responsible Use of WFA Resources

Use WFA facilities, equipment, systems, and resources responsibly and in accordance with WFA policies and applicable laws. Respect the confidentiality of information and personal data, and do not attempt to access systems, records, or information without proper authorisation.

Health, Safety, and Wellbeing

Follow all health and safety requirements and emergency procedures to help maintain a safe learning and working environment. Promptly report hazards, incidents, unsafe behaviour, or wellbeing concerns, and avoid any actions that may place yourself or others at risk.

Online and Digital Conduct

Communicate respectfully and professionally across all digital platforms, including email, online learning systems, virtual classrooms, and social media. Protect personal information and passwords, respect copyright and intellectual property rights, and do not share harmful, offensive, unlawful, or inappropriate content.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

WFA is committed to providing an environment free from discrimination, harassment, victimisation, and hate speech. All participants are entitled to be treated fairly and with respect regardless of background, nationality, gender, disability, religion, age, or sexual orientation.

Sexual Misconduct and Professional Boundaries

The WFA has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct and is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment. All members of the WFA community are expected to maintain appropriate professional boundaries and treat others with dignity, respect, and professionalism at all times.

Examples of sexual misconduct include unwanted sexual comments, messages, advances, or physical contact; inappropriate sexual or appearance-related remarks; sharing sexually explicit material without a legitimate educational purpose; sexual harassment, coercion, assault, or exploitation; and retaliation against individuals who report misconduct.

Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this Code of Conduct, you are encouraged to report it through WFA's designated reporting channels. Reports will be handled fairly, promptly, and as confidentially as reasonably possible.

Consequences of Misconduct

Breaches of this Code may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, removal from specific activities or facilities, academic or programme-related sanctions, suspension, or termination of course or internship participation. Serious breaches may be referred to relevant authorities where appropriate.

Acknowledgement

All course participants and interns are responsible for familiarising themselves with and adhering to this Code of Conduct as a condition of participation in WFA programmes, activities, internships, and events.
